Important Ticketing System Upgrade on all CDC Canberra Services from 23 March 2026

Transport for NSW is introducing a consistent ticketing system across rural and regional bus operators that do not use Opal. As part of this program, CDC will be transitioning to new on-board ticket machines.Key dates

  • From Sunday, 23 March 2026: Smart cards will no longer be accepted on CDC services.
  • Monday, 30 March 2026: Full go-live day. All new ticket machines will be active across the fleet.

Between Sunday 23 March and Sunday 29 March 2026, there will be a transition period where some buses may temporarily have no functional ticket machine while equipment is being changed over.

If your service does not have a working ticket machine on the day you travel, please follow the driver’s instructions for fare and ticketing arrangements.

If you have a remaining balance and require a refund, you will need your smart card number. You can email this to us for processing.

How to find your smart card number:

  • Provide the number printed on your card (where shown), or
  • Before Monday 30 March 2026, ask the driver to scan your card on the current machine and provide you with the card number.

Please note:

  • This must be done before Monday, 30 March 2026.
  • From Monday, 30 March 2026, smart cards will not scan or work on the new ticket machines, and the driver will not be able to retrieve the number using the new equipment.

To request a smart card refund, simply send us your details and smart card number via our online enquiries form or email to .
